Last Laugh

from Untitled EP by Erthman

lyrics

How do I even start
Each beats so far apart
Guess I'll just have to write my way into this woman's heart
She's acting oh so tough
Think that she's had enough
Of all the deadbeats trying to catch her with that romance stuff
She only wants to drive
Out on a summer's night
Windows open to the waves crashing in the tide
She's not a copy cat
And she don't follow rap
Kalashnikov in the trunk of her hatchback..

She likes the shooting range
Her childhood's all to blame
Her daddy left her and she never even knew his name
When she was just a teen
She had to fight her peers
And all the pain she kept inside for a couple years
Until she met a guy
Who told the perfect lie
About the money that his granny left him when she dies
He told her: "Get inside!"
And took her for a ride
In his all black Buick with the cowhide

Now she's a lonely soul
Out on a lonesome road
And there's no stopping when she's driving toward that guys's abode
She seems to hold a grudge
And with a gentle nudge
She places keys in front of me trying to kill my buzz
I told her: "Let it be.."
And she just stared at me
She made a motion like she's sitting in the driver's seat
Just got a tank of gas
And now we're speedin' past
Cause she's determined that she's gonna get the last laugh...
